Report Phishing Messages in Outlook

Send suspicious email to Microsoft 365 and the Virginia Tech Mail Team using Outlook's built-in phishing report.

Content owner: Rick Craig

Change path: Send corrections, broken links, or owner updates to AAD IT through 4Help.

If a message looks suspicious, do not reply, click links, or open attachments. Report the original message from Outlook instead.

  1. Select or open the suspicious message in Outlook.
  2. Choose Report > Phishing.
  3. Confirm the report if Outlook asks you to.

This sends a copy to Microsoft 365 to improve its filters and automatically sends a copy to the Virginia Tech Mail Team for evaluation. You do not need to forward the message to AAD IT separately.

If you clicked a link, opened an attachment, replied, entered a password, or shared other information, contact 4Help immediately at 540-231-4357.
