How-to Guides
Report Phishing Messages in Outlook
Send suspicious email to Microsoft 365 and the Virginia Tech Mail Team using Outlook's built-in phishing report.
If a message looks suspicious, do not reply, click links, or open attachments. Report the original message from Outlook instead.
Report the message
Section titled “Report the message”- Select or open the suspicious message in Outlook.
- Choose Report > Phishing.
- Confirm the report if Outlook asks you to.
This sends a copy to Microsoft 365 to improve its filters and automatically sends a copy to the Virginia Tech Mail Team for evaluation. You do not need to forward the message to AAD IT separately.
